Introducing Festivals on Shortverse 🎊

New Features to Demystify the Landscape of Film Fests

Since the beginning of the streaming era, we have helped pioneer the practice of online releases for short films. But, we’ve always recognized the vital role film festivals play in delivering exposure and opportunities to filmmakers.

As we build Shortverse into a platform that encompasses the “universe of short film” we know that festivals need to be prominent. Yet there are tens of thousands out there and each festival is unique, with its own particular focus, requirements, and programming tastes. It can be expensive to submit to festivals blindly, so let us introduce you to new tools we’ve built for both filmmakers and festival organizers to help films find their perfect match.

Find the RIGHT Festival for You

Connecting festivals to official selections that you can explore and watch right now is one of the key elements of Shortverse. From the start, you’ve been able to add laurels to your film page. Now, those laurels connect to new Festival Pages.

14,000+ festivals are now searchable on the site and accessible from a new header section.

Once there, you can discover festivals by the genre of films they’ve programmed, award-qualifying status, geography, or online eligibility. Sort by popularity or ratings.

Find a festival you’re interested in then learn more via its description, the awards it offers, and its FAQ. You can also browse films that have been previously selected to get a sense of the festival’s programming taste. If it’s right for you, see whether it is currently accepting submissions, then hit the Submit Now button which will link to the festival’s submission portal.

Visit shortverse.com/festivals to start exploring festivals right now. Also, these new features are great pathways for others to discover your film, so be sure to add the festivals you’ve played to your film pages!

CONNECT to a Community of Short Filmmakers

As a festival organizer, you want to make sure your event gets in front of thousands of filmmakers looking to submit their films, don’t you?

Well, as part of this big update we’ve built tools for individuals to manage festivals too! We’ve gotten the ball rolling by creating your page, but send us a request to gain access to your event’s settings and keep the information to date: add submission deadlines, update key art and laurels, as well as show off your festival’s taste by cataloging films you’ve programmed!

To get started click the “Join this Festival” link at the bottom of your festival page, or send us a message at [email protected], with a link to your Shortverse individual profile, to get added. The settings of all festivals of which you’re a member now live right in the profile menu for easy access.

Visit our Help Page to learn more about managing your festival and how you can expose your event to a massive community of short filmmakers!
